We’ve submitted the photo above to illustrate how laughter with friends isn’t a given for people with Asperger’s and High Functioning Autism, but they can experience that good feeling at ASAP. Many people with Asperger's or High-Functioning Autism are brilliant, creative people. But because they have problems understanding social cues, they often lack friends and are extremely lonely. ASAP, a social support group, bridges that gap.
At the core of our success is our philosophy: Find comfortable, non-clinical spaces where people on the high-end of the Autism Spectrum can meet regularly. Run the group as a club where people are friends the moment they walk in the door. Offer light facilitation and social advice where necessary. Learn about each person's interests and issues. Introduce them to like-minded people, engage in conversation and offer board games for entertainment.
